A bold spotted patterning, offset against a clear white back ground, makes this perhaps the most distinctive of all dog breeds. Black spotted Dalmations are far more common than their liver coloured counterparts. The spots should be round in shape, clearly defined and not overlapping. Dalmation pups are pure white at birth and develop their spots only later.

Friendly and outgoing natured, Dalmations make ideal companions and family pets and will be found to increase in intelligence the more they become part of the family.
