New OSCAR Franchisee in the Spotlight
Oscar Franchisee: Abi Russell
Which area does your OSCAR business cover?
Esher, Cobham & Oxshott.
What was your career before OSCAR?
The OSCAR template seemed sound and I liked the idea of gaining knowledge in the pet food industry.
What made you decide on a career change to run your own OSCAR Business?
I could understand and relate to the business as I love animals. The idea of flexible working, being independent but with excellent support from Head Office, in addition to the great quality products.
What was it that made you choose an OSCAR franchise business?
I have been trying to find a suitable career path. I had worked for a few companies but was keen to be my own boss.
What has been your favourite part of your OSCAR training so far?
I enjoyed the whole learning process throughout the training at Preston which was extremely interesting. I didn't imagine there was so much to know about pet food!
The light-hearted stories told during the course helped to retain much of the information.
Although there is a lot to learn (and it is quite daunting at first when carrying out taste trials) surprisingly, all the information learned on the training floods back when you are in a real situation and it's at that point you realize your knowledge as an Oscar Nutritional Advisor is greater than most customers you meet.
What pets do you have?
Lulu (5 years) Bichon Frise & Maltese cross.
Pom (8 months) Pomeranian.
Pringle (9 years) Birman Cat.
Which OSCAR food do you feed your pet?
Lulu and Pom are fed on OSCAR Adult Complete - Chicken and Rice along with the Meaty Roll and Yoghurt Snap treats. Whilst Pringle likes the OSCAR Adult Complete - Scottish Salmon and Chicken.
What is your pet's favourite game to play and why?
Chasing tennis balls & Hide and Seek!
Tell us a funny tale about your pet
Pom shows her teeth with a big smile! Lulu jumps in your seat when you move, and growls when you try to sit back down. She also growls at people wearing glasses on the TV.
If you could be any pet, what would you be and why?
A dog, as I would like all the pampering and love without any worries.
