Oscar Franchisee: Debbie & Dave Forster

Which area does your OSCAR business cover?

We cover Saffron Waldon, Linton, Abinston and Hildersham.

What was your career before OSCAR?

I originally started my career in catering, my first full time role was as a trainee housekeeper at the Savoy Hotel, my claim to fame is that I cleaned Frank Sinatra's bedroom/bathroom. I had a family, and spent 18 years in private education as an assistant bursar, responsible for day to day operations in an independent school.

What made you decide on a career change to run your own OSCAR Business?

Dave was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and then made redundant, we also lost a close friend to cancer at the same time and we decided that life was too short not to pursue your dreams, on dream was to run our own business on our own involving dogs/pets.

What was it that made you choose an OSCAR franchise business?

We have three dogs all on Oscars pet food and we wanted a business that we have a real interest in and believe in, I don't think I could seel something I didn't feel passionate about.

What pets do you have?

We have 3 dogs;

Jack - Border Collie, 9 years old and NSARDA qualified.

Winnie - Working Cocker, 18 months, trainee NSARDA DOG.

Bella - Springer Spaniel, 11 years old, deaf and blind.

Rambo - Grey/Blue cat.

Which OSCAR food do you feed your pet?

Jack & Bella are Fed on Oscar Pinnacle+

Winnie - Working Dog Chicken & Salmon.

What is your pet's favourite game to play and why?

Jack and Winnnie have search dog training, they love it because their reward is a tennis ball.

Tell us a funny tale about your pet

When we lived in Cambridge Jack would often think he'd found a missing person when he was out on his walks if he found someone sleeping or couples canoodling, he would run over to them and bark and then run to Dave to say he had found a body. Dave would have to go through the whole process of pretending it was a find and reward jack accordingly and apologise to the people for either waking them up or disturbing them.

If you could be any pet, what would you be and why?

Jack once found a pillow case filled with jewellery hidden in a bush!
