New OSCAR Franchise in the Spotlight: Heather Toulson-Blakeley
New OSCAR Franchisee in the Spotlight
Oscar Franchisee: Heather Toulson-Blakeley
Which area does your OSCAR business cover?
My OSCAR business covers York.
What was your career before OSCARS?
My previous experience has been in teaching art & design in secondary schools and also some administration positions. Mainly teaching though.
No business experience at all; hence OSCAR, who provide the support to run your own business.
What made you decide on a career change to run your own OSCAR business?
There are two reasons: 1. The flexibility of working when I want to, so that I can look after my dog. 2. To run my own business; in charge of my own destiny and avoiding being made redundant and being in temporary contract, which I have been in the last 7 years. I believe in the product and the fact that OSCAR provide the back up and support I need, having not run my own business before.
What made you choose an OSCAR franchise business?
I decided on OSCAR because I believe that the product is very good quality after being a customer for 7 years. They offer an excellent service with home delivery and an OSCAR nutritional advisor.
What has been your favourite part of your OSCAR training so far?
The best part of the training was meeting the “Oscar Family” and thinking of fun and imaginative ways of marketing the products. Also, finding out how to run your own business. All very new and exciting.
What pets do you have?
I have two black Labradors. Monty aged 7 and Louie aged 5 years.
Which OSCAR food do you feed your pet?
What is your pet's favourite game to play and why?
Monty and Louie love to run in big open spaces, such as the Ings and the Knavesmire, in York. They love chasing each other through the long grass. Monty also has a passion for swimming in the river Ouse. Louie only likes to paddle but will wait for Monty to retrieve something from the river and then take it off him!
They are like chalk and cheese. One is energetic and the other lazy, one loves sun bathing, the other prefers the shade. Always winding each other up and using intelligent games to get each other off the settee!!
Tell us a funny tale about your pet
Monty has tickly paws and doesn't like his feet to be touched. Louie thinks he is a cat - loves to sleep lying across my lap. But he is a lot bigger than a cat, so he rests his head on my shoulders.
If you could be any pet, what would it be and why?
I would be a working dog. Either for fire and rescue, or any of the emergency services. I would like to be a dog that is helping others.
