New OSCAR Franchise in the Spotlight: Joanne Stone
New OSCAR Franchisee in the Spotlight
Oscar Franchisee: Joanne Stone
Which area does your OSCAR business cover?
What was your career before OSCAR?
I have been at home looking after the family for 16 years and felt that the time was right (after relocating to Hereford) to start work again. With a love for animals, OSCAR offered the best of both worlds; putting down roots in a new environment and meeting lots of like minded pet people.
What made you decide on a career change to run your own OSCAR Business?
I like the friendly and supportive team at OSCAR and especially like the quality of the products.
What was it that made you choose an OSCAR franchise business?
I used to work as a PA to the Directors of a Chartered Surveyors in London, but left to have children. It was a demanding and busy role which I loved but I could not carry on part time and I wanted to spend time at home with the children.
What has been your favourite part of your OSCAR training so far?
The in-house training at Oscars in Preston was very informative and gave me a lot of confidence to go out and convince customers that they were buying a high quality product with great benefits to their animals. Everyone on the course was very friendly and supportive of each other, and I hope to keep in touch with them all to compare notes. Simon’s cat presentation is a must, too, comparing types of chocolate to see which is easier on the teeth – what’s not to like?!
What pets do you have?
Maisie (14 months) is a Cocker Spaniel & Bichon Frise cross.
Simba (2.5years) tabby cat, & Dobby (2.5years) black cat.
Which OSCAR food do you feed your pet?
Maisie has OSCAR Chicken and Rice.
Simba & Dobby have OSCAR Adult Scottish Salmon and Chicken.
What is your pet's favourite game to play and why?
Maisie loves to play fetch with a tennis ball, as long as there is a treat as a reward!
Tell us a funny tale about your pet
When we first brought Maisie home at 8 weeks old she was intimidated by the smells and size of the garden. So she used to sit on our daughter’s scooter and was steered around until her confidence grew; she still tries to ride on it today but she is four times the size!
If you could be any pet, what would you be and why?
I would be a dog, as they are completely pampered and only have to look soppy to be forgiven for tearing the house to pieces!
