Oscar Franchisee: Lucy Banks
Which area does your OSCAR business cover?
Petersfield, Rowland Castle, Buriton, South Harting, Emsworth, Southbourne, Nutbourne, Bosham, Fishbourne, Havant, Hayling Island, North Portsmouth, and Chilgrove.
What was your career before OSCAR?
Previous work in the hospitality industry. Joined the police aged 20 years, working on response and neighbourhood teams. Had our son Ollie in 2014. Ran Little Pickles Market West Sussex while on maternity leave. Briefly returned to the police but left to set up our OSCAR business.
What made you decide on a career change to run your own OSCAR Business?
I wanted a career where I could be my own boss, and for the career to fit in around running a home and family. OSCAR allows me to do this and we can really run it as a family business. We also love dogs, so it couldn't have suited us better. .
What was it that made you choose an OSCAR franchise business?
After researching the product and the company, it was an obvious choice. It also gives us a business we can fit around our family.
What has been your favourite part of your OSCAR training so far?
My favourite part of the training, so far, has been meeting all my customer's lovely pets and the continued support from all the team.
What pets do you have?
Charlie: Black Labrador aged 3 years old.
Which OSCAR food do you feed your pet?
Pinnacle +, Charlie injured his leg last year and the added supplements for healthy joints work wonders for him.
What is Charlie's favourite game to play and why?
Hide & Seek! One of us hides in the house behind doors (or behind trees when out on a walk) and the other sends him out to start seeking. Charlie goes bonkers when he finds us! He loves to chase sticks as well.
Tell us a funny tale about Charlie
When Charlie was a puppy we took him on a walk at a country park. We stopped off at a cafe and tied him to a (heavy!) bench while we ran in to get a drink. Charlie somehow made the bench move and he tried to run away but, as he was attached, the bench followed him. When we ran out, he was running around being chased by the big bench. When we caught him, he was barking at the bench and trying to do it again!
If you could be any pet, what would you be and why?
Our Charlie; he has a great life! He gets walked, fed, played with, and sleeps the rest of the time.
