OSCAR Featured Ingredient: Herb and Botanical Pack
In a selection of our enhanced dog foods you may notice the arrival of our Herb and Botanical Pack. This consists of Alfalfa, Spinach, Broccoli, Beetroot, Blueberry, Pomegranate, Turmeric, Parsley, Oregano, Thyme and Fennel. Below you will find listed some of the recognised properties for the herbs, fruits and vegetables included.
Turmeric
A rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. Turmeric contains curcumin: a polyphenol that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Spinach
Recognised as a 'superfood' it is an extremely nutrient-rich vegetable. It contains high amounts of carotenoids, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, folic acid, iron and calcium.
Broccoli
Recognised as a 'superfood' it is a great source of Vitamins K and C, a good source of folic acid and also provides potassium and fibre.
Beetroot
Rich in antioxidants and also a 'superfood'. It is a rich source of Betanin (the red colour pigment), which has antioxidant properties.
Blueberry
Recognised as a 'superfood' it contains anthocyanins (the purple colour pigment), other polyphenols and various phytochemicals. It is a rich source of Vitamin C and is known to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Pomegranate
A rich source of Vitamin C, polyphenols and anthocyanins, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Alfalfa
Rich in chlorophyll, carotene, protein, calcium and other minerals, vitamins from the B group, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K.
Parsley
A source of flavonoids and antioxidants and is a culinary herb. It can have breath freshening properties.
Oregano
Contains polyphenols, including numerous flavones. It is a culinary herb and has antioxidant properties.
Thyme
An essential oil that has antiseptic properties. It is a culinary herb and contains Vitamins C, A and K, iron, manganese and calcium.
Fennel
Contains B vitamins and several dietary minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium and manganese. It is a culinary herb and has antioxidant properties.
